Japan Journals is the next in a series of  alliteration-friendly web shows by Reason Films. Pretty much it’s a guide to travelling and snowboarding in Japan.

 

Hand-drawn illustration and animation just like you’d draw in your journal.

 

Made with the help of a few markers and a large stack of printer paper. Logo design by Cam O’Connell.

 

Last minute changes meant that more logos needed to be added so the final version of the animation was actually helped along with Cinema 4D and then composited in After Effects.

 

Final video will be uploaded once the show hits the web-waves. For now its just stills..

A TV commercial for Productreview.com.au. Their site is all about making confusing situations simple… so the TVC shows some characters who need help.

 

Artwork done in Illustrator and animated in After Effects with the help of the excellent DiUK script.

Airtime is a TV show screening on TVNZ 7 (in New Zealand) and featuring all sorts of sports and ‘extreme’ stuff. I created a graphics package which included intro, credits, onscreen graphics and transitions for the show. It’s a combination of hand-drawn sketches, Illustrator artwork and 3D balloons from Cinema 4D, all comped together in After Effects and edited in Final Cut.

Inspiring Stories is an incredibly cool film festival which teaches kids how to make documentaries about whatever issues they see around them. This little pro-bono job was a short ident to be played at the beginning of the screenings.

Coming Clean is a documentary about Emissions Trading in New Zealand.

 

All of the issues in this documentary are fairly ‘hefty’ and take a fair bit of concentration to absorb, so the motion graphics were created in a light-hearted style which would hopefully be easy to watch and understand.
